The Risperdal Lawsuit

The drug, Risperdal is used for many purposes. Patients, from the elderly to children have been diagnosed with various issues that warrant the use of this medication. Illnesses such as Dementia, ADHD and even BiPolar Disorder have all been treated by Risperdal, and most times quite effectively. Unfortunately, certain issues have driven many of these patients to pursue lawsuits against the maker of this drug.

For elderly patients, lawsuits have been targeted toward the Risperdal causing strokes. Apparently, the elderly are more prone to blood clots, strokes and other cardiac issues, due to taking this medication.

For the children

This risk in the elderly population is also a major concern for parents of children who take the medication. If these risks are real, children can suffer for the rest of their lives from heart related issues and side effects.

There are also other effects that this drug has over children and even young adults. Male patients are experiencing the growth of breast tissue when taking the drug for several years. This has also sparked a large number of Risperdal lawsuit as well.

What is being done?

In 3013, Johnoson and Johnson agreed upon a settlement to several of the lawsuits, paying 2.2 billion for medical fraud. It is apparent that some misconduct has been done.

Is this drug helpful or harmful? This question can only be answered by those who have either experienced a better or worse quality of life due to the medication. For those who have suffered from Risperdal use, there is compensation for pain and suffering. The many lawsuits has seen to it, that justice is done for those who deserve help.
